Liliana Lara is an author, teacher and researcher. She has a degree in Education (Universidad de Oriente, 1997), a masters in Latin American Literature (Universidad Simón Bolívar, 2002), and a PhD in Spanish-American Literature (The Hebrew University in Jerusalem, 2018). Her doctoral thesis Dislocaciones. Espacio y discurso en la obra de tres autores migrantes latinoamericanos (Krina Ber, Mario Bellatin y Marcelo Cohen) won the Esther Seligson Prize for excellence in research about Spanish and Latin American Literature at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 2020 and will soon be published.

Her stories and articles have been published in newspapers, magazines and anthologies. She is the author of the collections of short stories Los jardines de Salomón (winner of the XVI Bienal Literaria José Antonio Ramos Sucre with narrative in 2007) and Trampajaula (2012), the novel La música de los barcos (2018) and the book Abecedario del estío (2019).
